Six months in pictures

Six months ago, Jack Anderson Bullivant entered the world.

Early.

He became "Jack-in-the-Box" and made lots of new nurse friends.

After 11 very long days, he came home.

He met his puppy.

He grew.

He made more friends.

He smiled.

And grew.

He went in a pool for the first of what will be many times.

He laughed.

He had his first Halloween.

And grew.

He wore his first bow tie...

...to make a good first impression on Santa.

He went to the beach.

He visited his friends in the NICU to wish them a happy day.

And slept.

And was awesome.

Six months have gone by in the blink of an eye (and the flash of an iPhone). Jack, your Mommy and Papa love you so much and we are so excited to see what the next six months hold. Happy half birthday, Jackers!

Could someone please tell me?

When exactly did our boy get so big?

First time in the grocery cart!

Boys will be boys!

This week's new food is...

avocado! Of the new fresh foods so far, this one got the best reception. Major props to Papa for thinking of the best way to get all the lumps out and to Aunt Katie for the baby food recipe book (yes, we need a recipe for a one-ingredient baby food) and braving the possibility of avocados being slug in her face.

It's been a busy week. Jack would like to tell you about it:
Happy weekend, everyone!

Round 1

Jack has been getting better and better with solids in the last week. So far, he has had oatmeal (his standard), sweet potatoes (they're growing on him), and bananas (which he doesn't quite care for yet). Our favorite part about when he eats is how he opens his mouth way before one of us can get the spoon there. We made him a little less than the usual amount tonight. This turned out to be just the appetizer course.

Sleep training (aka "Not napping")

Around 3 months old, Jack turned into this AMAZING sleeper - 7-8 hour stretches at night - completely on his own and beyond our expectations. I attributed it to genetics given Matt's ability to sleep through anything. And then, as quickly as he started, he just stopped. From one night to the next, it went from a 7-hour stretch to a 3-hour stretch. Growth spurt, right? Wrong. Sad, sad new sleep pattern. So, we started working with a Gentle Sleep Coach (yes, it's a real thing) and she created a plan for Jack (and us) that we started last Friday. I will spare you the details of the plan, but it is working. Sleep at night and during naps has improved. However, there are still the occasional moments when the boy just does not want to sleep. And this is one of them:

Let the blogging begin!

So... as a mommy with an iPhone and a cute baby, Jack is a well-documented baby. I don't always remember to share those videos with everyone I mean to (which most of you will find shocking because of the number of videos I do manage to share) so I am going to post them here instead. I set this up so you have to be invited to see the blog (I think), and I am happy to invite anyone we know - we just don't really want strangers snooping around on the web to land here. :)
