3 year old class
Today was Jack's first day in the 3 year old class. He was pretty excited and even wore his new backpack (previously an honor only bestowed to Mommy).

He's 3!
Seems the older he gets, the less time we have for blogging. Shocking? Probably not.
We've had a great week celebrating with friends and family!

Mother's Day
Mother's Day was great fun with the notable highlight of touring the Jupiter Lighthouse. Jack was too little to climb up, but he got to go inside the bottom of the lighthouse. Jack entertained the entire tour with his excitement about the lighthouse. At every stop along the way, Jack would say, "Go see the lighthouse? Ok yaaaaaaay! Let's go see the lighthouse!"

Easter 2014
Today has been a fantastic day so far. In the morning, Jack woke up to Miss Katie being here since Matt and I were sleeping in at the resort after celebrating our anniversary the day before. They finished up their holiday painting and had pancakes and bacon for breakfast.
When we got home, we packed ourselves back up and headed out for a beautiful mid-day Easter celebration thrown by some of Matt's co-workers.
(Miss Katie is THE best, in case you were wondering.)
The Easter Bunny brought a basket full of books and a new train for Jack, who quickly got going with the train.
There was an Easter Egg hunt:

A day in the life of Jack
Next, a neighborhood Easter Egg hunt
No eggs yet...
Success!
Sharing the loot
Park playtime with his buddy Greyson
A family evening stroll on the beach
What's a trip to the beach without covering every bit of exposed skin with sand?
And then washing it off
Yeah, that's about right. Any day that ends with you naked in public is probably a success, right?

Spring Break
It's Spring Break this coming week, which seems like a great time to share some of the fun times Jack has had at school so far this year. Jack not only asks to go to school every day, he runs from the parking lot dragging me by hand to get to his classroom as quickly as possible.
Open House the week after he started school
Bundled up for a rare cold day
Learning about babies and how to care for them
Parsley they planted while learning about plants
Artwork made with floss and toothbrushes while learning about keeping teeth healthy

Art by the Sea
In keeping with our art festival theme, we got to go to our very favorite art festival this weekend. The weather was beautiful and we made our way towards the beach well before lunch time. However, unlike past years when we have taken Jack, he now knows what the beach is and when he's near it. Getting him to walk past every entrance to the beach without going TO the beach proved impossible. So, after an impromptu beach trip, we saw some lovely art.
If you've never ventured to an art festival with a toddler... grab a toddler an go. You will see art you would have otherwise walked by without a second thought. You can watch them make sense of what they're seeing and maybe in ways that make sense to you too. Jack doesn't stand still very often when outside and he would run into a booth and just stand quietly and take it all in. Then he'd find something he wanted to see and usually asked to be picked up to get a closer look (but not touch). It is a pretty cool thing to see, really, and the artists seemed really happy to have such a young enthusiast, too.

ArtiGras
Last weekend was the annual ArtiGras festival and art show. Despite our general opposition to paying to go to an art show, the weather was too beautiful to not be outside and our favorite (and free!) art show isn't for several more weeks. Jack had a lot of fun and we were pretty impressed with how interested he became with so many exhibits. He saw fish and lobsters, trains, suns and moons, dinosaurs made of wood, butterflies, and all kind of fun colors. He also forced us into some booths we would have otherwise skipped, which turned out to be fun. And he did a fantastic job at looking but not touching, which for a 2.5 year old, is pretty darn impressive.
There was a very cool kids section and he was especially fond of the giant sand pile!
