Jack survived his first cold. While we braced for sleepless nights, miserable days, and general crankiness... Jack powered through in one day. Love this boy and his immune system!
By Friday, Jack was pretty much back to 100% and ready to feed himself. Or at least that's what he thought. Armed with his special "spoon" and Mommy's blend of organic carrots and spinach, he had at it (with lots of help) and did surprisingly well. And OH the photo ops!

Better out than in
Yesterday, Jack was 34 weeks and 3 days old. Jack was born at 34 weeks and 3 days. This officially means that today, he has been out longer than he was in. And things just keep getting better!

This is why we have a sun shelf
As useful as this sun shelf has been for lessons, we originally designed the pool with this exact use in mind. I don't think either of us imagined that it would be such a hit from the get go.

YouTube re-cap
Although I can post to this blog from my cell phone (and often do at 4am), I cannot include videos without using my computer. Ironically, working all day from my computer makes it all the more difficult to use the computer for personal stuff, but I snagged a spare minute and I am loading several recent videos. After all... one must have priorities!
Working on some new teeth and trying to figure out what to do with the current ones!
Need a snack in the car? Eat your car seat!
We've been working on clapping. He is skipping ahead.

St. Patrick's Day nap
We took our show on the road (a little) to go on the first official Jack-needs-new-clothes shopping spree yesterday. Everyone was so generous to us (ahem, Gray family!) that we have only bought the odd outfit here or there until now. We are still stunned by the number of clothes Jack has already outgrown. Now he's got good option - mostly in 12 mo size so he can wear it more than twice - and you'll see pics of new threads soon. The shopping really took it out of the little guy!

At first glance...
At first glance, there's really nothing that remarkable about this picture (aside from the absolute cuteness factor). But two things crack me up:
1. Matt having to contort himself to read the words (which he probably has memorized by now - Five Tumbling Tigers is a favorite) because Jack is busy trying to grabs the pictures off the page.
2. Jack's foot. He's helping his Papa hold the book, don't you know.

My friend Samuel
Today Jack got to meet his friend Samuel. It is hard to believe that just a few months ago, Jack was that small. Jack and Samuel both soaked up lots of love (and hopefully not so much language) from Aunts Donna & Aniela.
In preparing for this visit, Jack got to sit in his swing for a few minutes. Jack used to sleep every night in this swing and now he hardly fits. I think it might be time to pack it up now that he can reach the mobile and swat the birds as they go by!

Wardrobe
The last few days, the slobber factor has really been up there. Tooth number three? Quite possibly. In the meantime, Jack has not let the fact that he drools all over his clothes stop him from looking quite put together.

Good morning!
This is how Jack looks when he wakes up. He babbles away to the whales on his sheets until I come in to turn the lights on and then he flashes this grin (which is blurry because he's also wiggling with excitement). Of course, if I napped four hours a day, I think I'd grin, too.
(For anyone wondering why he's holding a towel, I draped it over the outside of his crib to block the very little bit of sunlight that was coming through. Apparently he grabbed it and pulled it through the slats.)

Let me tell you a story...
This is Jack's new trick. When it is time for bed, he gets a little chatty and holds his Papa by the face so he can be sure he's listening. It's about the cutest thing ever.

Phew!
These weeks are getting crazy and it is REALLY affecting the blogging. Promise to work on that! Good news, though - everyone is doing great (although I'm a bit tired). Jack has been doing fantastic with his sleeping and we're a little nervous for the time change this weekend, but it may end up helping shift his schedule for the better. This is how Jack finished up Wednesday, drowsy and just barely awake:

Jumping for joy
There will be two posts today as, later, we will be formally wishing Jack's grand dad a VERY happy birthday! For now, this is a video I meant to load last night... but I just fell asleep before I could. Clearly Jack has enough energy for both of us.

Technically from Thursday...
Jack had a great day even though he got the rest of his six month shots. His pediatrician says he is "perfect" and his measurements are now in the top percentile ranges for both height and weight. Although I couldn't get a picture, he did one heck of a number on the exam table paper - the nurse had to roll out more twice because he kept grabbing, pulling, crumpling, flailing around with it. Phew! He was a handful up there. No tears for the first shot but he ran out of good-naturedness after the second one. Only for a second, though.
